Six brushes to have in your makeup bag
It’s difficult to decide what shape, size or bristle is needed for the different parts of your makeup routine.
Is a fluffy makeup brush better than a flat one for foundation?
Are natural makeup brushes better than synthetic makeup brushes?
Here are six makeup brushes you should have in you makeup kit.
Foundation Brush
Foundation Brushes
The brush you use for foundation depends entirely on the type of foundation you use.
A liquid formula works best with a flat, wide and densely packed brush. The wide brush will cover your face in fewer strokes.
And because it’s flat, the brush will not absorb any of your makeup. For a mineral powder foundation, a large slightly rounded brush works best
. Look for a brush with a round shape to distribute the powder evenly.
Concealer Brush

The concealer brush also depends on what you are using it for.
A thin, flat concealer brush works best for concealing under-eye circles.
When you use the flat side of the brush to pat it down, it allows for an even coverage that won’t crease later in the day.
For covering blemishes, use a thin, pointed brush to apply the concealer only on the blemish.
Blush Brush
Blush Brushes
Natural brushes, like goat hair used in Quo brushes, are the best when it comes to powder blush.
Use an angled blush brush to apply blush to your cheekbones, for a more sculpted look.
Or if you prefer to apply blush on the apples of your cheeks, use a fluffy brush with a pointed tip to distribute the colour evenly and precisely.
Bronzer
Bronzer Brush
Look for a kabuki brush when shopping for a makeup brush for your bronzer.
The wide and well-rounded shape will spread the bronzer evenly, to create a sun-kissed look, as opposed to the precision of a blush brush.
Eyeliner Brush

When you’re using a gel eyeliner, choosing the brush that goes with it is more a preference.
A straight, fine-pointed brush is great for creating thin lines or dramatic cat eyes.
For a more simple look, use a flat, push-eyeliner brush, or and angled one.
This can be used to simple apply the eyeliner along the lash line, or the waterline.
Eyeshadow Brush

For applying shadow all over the lids use a dense but thin rounded brush.
This will distribute the colour evenly across the eye.
To add colour to the crease, use a small brush with bristles that are all the same length.
This will fit in the crease to create a smokey eye.
